Magic reading.

Books. Fireplace. Globes. Maps.
We read to live more than one life.

Painting on acetate sheets.

This is a great project ! You can put your finished painting in the window, hang in on the wall, even in the car window ! And how much fun making it :)
For the snowman we mixed our usual - shaving foam with glue.
And for the tree just simple gauche paint. Few buttons for eyes and snowman, black beads for mouth and job done !
Love it !

DIY Teepee.

Absolutely a Must in every child's room ! Kids want to read in it, sleep in it, play in it and hide in it.
For this teepee I used all leftover fabric I could find. I even cut a jumper for the top !
In a local hardware store I got 7 bamboo sticks for 10 euro. Yey !
Here are 2 links how to make your own teepee.

For headpieces I used some fabric, put feathers on it in a line and sew over them. Here is link for no sew headpiece : http://wise-rabbit-says.blogspot.nl/2011/08/feather-headdress-diy.html Here is us making headpieces for all our friends :)

DIY Gak ! Ewwwwwww.........

Mega, mega, mega cool project !!! And this slime will last for weeks !
You will need:
2 cups of glue (I used PVA adhesive glue)
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 1/2 tablespoons Borax powder (found in pharmacy)
1 cup hot water
Some colours (I used simple gouache, food colouring will stain your hands)
Procedure:
1. In a medium bowl, mix the glue and 1 1/2 cups warm water until combined.
2. Add coloring until desired color is reached.
3. In a small bowl, mix Borax and 1 cup hot water.
4. Pour the Borax solution into the glue solution and mix well. Once the mixture starts to pull together, you can mix it with your hands. Pour off any excess liquid. If it’s too sticky, add more Borax.
5. Store in a Ziplock.
IMPORTANT!!! Make sure this slime doesn't get in your child's mouth.

Play dough tale.

Oh, yes - this is madness :D
Try this mix - play dough + glitters.... !!! Holy macaroni, how big mess but how much fun !
While girls were at it, I encouraged them to make up stories. They were coming up with dragon spit which trapped baby deer, flying lava carpet and a magic stardust mud bath which healed broken penguin's leg.
This is so far the most creative activity we have done so far - 10 out of 10 !
WARNING: Sparkling house for a week regardless of how many times hoovered...

Modelling clay colour blending.

This practise is very important and yet - super simple.
It is a great way to show kids how colours can be manipulated into beautiful blends. All you need is some modelling clay :)
Let them make snakes and balls, sausages and pancakes :)
Then, placing two snakes next to each other, keep twisting them around each other. Once it's done - make one big snake out of it by rolling it on the table and watch how colours have blended !
Kids will be at it for hours laughing in an excitement, discovering new shapes and colours.
